Berlin Decks – Branding und Design

Berlin Decks is a complex project that demonstrates the full scope of our creative services: starting with naming, creating a bespoke logo and corporate identity, we then continued with content creation, marketing and a concept for the development of the location. A new venture by real estate developer Beos, Berlin Decks is a future innovative campus for entrepreneurs and creatives on the Friedrich-Krause-Ufer in Moabit-Wedding, to be built starting 2021. The name Berlin Decks was inspired by its position by the water, near Berlin’s big docks and the building’s future architecture, which will feature multiple overlapping levels, terraces and units that will be connected to each other.

The building’s modularity also inspired the new CI and logo. The logo is fluid and shape shifting, alluding to the multidisciplinary character of the campus, the extended nature of the letterforms once again resembling the decks. The simple typography is inspired by simple lettering of shipping containers, a nod to the industrial heritage of the venue.

Out of three color themes, the bright orange and light pink were chosen to build an exciting contrast between “industrial location,” signified by the bold orange often seen on industrial machinery, and the light pink’s “contemporary digital hub” vibe. In combination, the two create a recognizable value that is dynamic and accessible and offer a positive contrast to the green elements and rooftop gardens of the future complex.

Our job doesn’t end with delivering a logo design, however. We came up with a concept for the development of the location into a lively new hub that will become a creative campus for Berliners in an area that is quite isolated. Until its transformation at the beginning of next year, Berlin Decks consists of an empty warehouse for which we’ve designed and built a bespoke glass house out of recycled Berlin windows. The Glasshouse has become a venue for events and dinners, while the warehouse can be also used for productions and more. Check out our  Cee Cee Dinner #3 and Cee Cee Dinner #4 that took place at Berlin Decks to see more of the Glasshouse’s interior. You can also keep up with Berlin Decks on their website or on  Instagram.

In collaboration with Berlin Decks we also put out another one of our Neighborhood Maps for Moabit-Wedding. See more of that project here.
